Our commitment
NearbyEvents (nearbyevents.co.uk) is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards.
Standards we follow
We aim to conform to level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning and neurological disabilities.
What we do
- Use semantic HTML and ARIA landmarks to support screen readers.
- Maintain sufficient colour contrast for text and interactive elements.
- Ensure all functionality is usable with a keyboard.
- Provide descriptive link text and alternative text for images.
- Design responsive layouts that work on mobile, tablet and desktop.
- Test with browser zoom up to 200% without loss of content.
Known limitations
Some third-party embedded content (such as social media widgets or external ticketing widgets) may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA. We review these regularly and raise accessibility concerns with providers where possible.
