Open-air concerts and gigs
The Hydro puts most of its outdoor programme on at Bellahouston Park (TRNSMT in July is the flagship). Edinburgh's Princes Street Gardens hosts summer sessions with a castle backdrop. Kelvingrove Bandstand, Rothesay Pavilion and outdoor stages at Stirling Castle and Edinburgh Castle Esplanade run through July and August.
Highland Games and agricultural shows
There are more than 60 Highland Games across Scotland between May and September. The Braemar Gathering (attended by the Royal Family) is the most famous; Cowal, Aboyne, Ballater and Pitlochry are also on the tourist trail. For local flavour, look at Ceres in Fife (Scotland's oldest continuously held games) or Halkirk in Caithness.
Food, drink and market festivals
